My name is Christel Carbajal, and I am a front-end developer and designer based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
With a strong passion for creating engaging digital experiences, I specialize in building clean, responsive interfaces and designing intuitive user experiences that seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics. My work spans a variety of projects, from modern websites to desktop and mobile applications, and even video games. I take pride in not just making things look beautiful, but ensuring they feel meaningful and user-friendly. I am particularly drawn to UI/UX design, and I believe that the best digital products are those that solve real problems while providing a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Technology is more than a career for me — it is a genuine passion. Whether I am exploring the latest design trends, watching PC builds, or learning new development tools, I am always looking for ways to grow both professionally and personally. I see every project as an opportunity to innovate, improve, and create something valuable. I am continuously motivated by the potential of design and code to make a positive impact, and I look forward to collaborating on projects that are both challenging and rewarding.
During my studies at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, I developed strong skills in both programming and design.
I worked with technologies like JavaScript, PHP, Unity, and explored emerging tools such as AI, VR/AR, and the Internet of Things.
The program emphasized learning by doing — from building apps, games, and websites to working on real client projects.
I also gained experience in design thinking, concept development, and creating user-focused digital experiences.
This education laid the foundation for my role as a Creative Developer,
combining technical skills with creativity to build innovative and engaging digital products.
Initially focused on a career in forensic research, I studied biotechnological analysis where I learned to work precisely with DNA, blood, and chemical substances to detect pathogens and support biomedical innovation. This hands-on lab training sharpened my analytical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail — skills that naturally translated into my growing passion for technology and design. Over time, my curiosity shifted from biological systems to digital systems, leading me to pursue a career as a Creative Developer where I could combine logic, creativity, and impact in a new and exciting way.
I work on improving the front-end of Magento-based online stores. This includes adding new features, fixing bugs, improving page speed, and making sure everything works well on all devices. I turn designs into real, functional websites and help create a smooth and enjoyable shopping experience for users.
As an intern I worked on redesigning and building a website for a client using Wordpress.
